It depends on your window manufacturer. Some window warranties exclude glass damage or seal failure caused by aftermarket films or coatings. Others don't mention film at all. Before we install, we'll look at your warranty with you so you know where you stand.
Film changes how much of the sun's heat the glass absorbs. If a film absorbs too much heat on the wrong kind of glass, the glass can crack from heat stress, or the seal on a double-pane window can be strained. That's why film has to be matched to the glass.
We identify the glass in each window (single-pane, double-pane, low-E, tempered or laminated) and follow LLumar's film-to-glass guidelines, which list which films are approved for which types of glass. If a film isn't right for a window, we won't put it there.
LLumar residential films carry a manufacturer's warranty against bubbling, peeling, crazing and delaminating when installed by an authorized dealer. When film is installed according to LLumar's film-to-glass guidelines, many installations also qualify for LLumar's glass breakage and seal failure coverage for film-related glass problems. Ask us which coverage applies to your windows.
Find your window brand and age: it's often printed on a label or etched in a corner of the glass.
Look for your warranty paperwork, or check the manufacturer's website.
Note any problem windows: tell us if any windows are already fogged between the panes or cracked.
We'll check your glass, go over your warranty, and give you a written quote at no cost. As an authorized LLumar SelectPro dealer, we serve Sioux City, South Sioux City, North Sioux City, Sergeant Bluff, Le Mars and Dakota Dunes. Book a free estimate online or call 712-277-4342.
